Please know that the Youth Services and Reference Staff are always here to help when it comes to finding information for your next research paper, going over grammatical issues or even narrowing down which biography will be perfect for your next presentation. No question is too big or too small and we will be more than willing to show you how to search our card catalog for physical resources or our many databases that supply creditable e-resources. Either way, all you have to do is ask!

We have computers, printer capabilities, encyclopedias, dictionaries and other Reference materials waiting for your use in the Youth Services Department. This area is always open during library operating hours.

  • CT Gov Educational Activities for Children – Kid friendly information about all things CT.
  • Everyday Mysteries – A fun and interesting site provided by the Library of Congress that answers some of the world’s most baffling questions. ALSO, perfect for parents who have a little one that always asks “why.”
  • Myth Man – Greek Mythology enthusiasts, click here and enjoy! Information about Gods, Goddesses, Beasts and myths will satisfy you for hours.
  • State Symbols – Click  on each state link to see symbols and quick facts.
  • researchITCT – Provides full-text magazines, academic journals, biographical information and newspapers for searchers. Simply log in with your library card and click on the individual resources link on the left hand of the screen based on your grade level so that you can find age appropriate material. Citation information and audio is available. (Your library card is required.)
  • USGS Learning Web – Provides impartial information about: our ecosystems, the environment, natural resources, hazards and the core sciences. Click on the appropriate grade level and explore away.
  • Webster’s Dictionary Online – Access to an online dictionary, thesaurus encyclopedia as well as Spanish translations.
