StoryWalk on Main: A Reading Adventure For All Ages

Join us as we combine literacy, exercise and community for our first ever StoryWalk® along Main Street!

StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library in hope of bringing families outside to exercise their bodies and brains. With help from Branford’s local merchants and a grant from the Guilford Savings Bank we were able to bring this program to life with Ada’s Violin: The Story of the Recycled Orchestra of Paraguay; a true story about a small town that transformed their community’s dire predicament by creating a touring orchestra with instruments built from recycled trash.

Readers of all ages are invited to go through this “walk and read” experience starting at Real Livings and ending back at the Blackstone Library. The Library and each participating merchant have maps leading you to each page all while asking you to expand your brain with discussion questions and challenges. Those that complete EVERY challenge will be eligible for a prize drawing at summer’s end.

StoryWalk® will be up Monday June 18 – Friday August 17.
We hope you enjoy our StoryWalk® creation and will share your experiences with us!
