Rick Riordan Presents: A Virtual Book Club for Grades 3 thru 6

Join us once a month for a virtual book club that features different books from Rick Riordan Presents – a small publishing division with the goal of sharing cultures and backgrounds through stories inspired by their mythology, folklore, and heritage.

Sign up here to meet the fourth Tuesday of every month and you will be sent an email with our ZOOM meeting number and password the morning of our club so that you can join in the discussion.

Our next book was voted on and we are going to read The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown. You can put the digital copy on hold or order a physical title for contactless pick up.

Bored? Looking for something to do? Drop by the library on your early release day to pick up a mystery bag activity—just take it & make it! Each month will be a different activity. What will you get? Who knows! It could be a craft you keep… or an edible craft you eat! We’ll post a video of instructions on our Facebook page. Reply with your awesome creations! Bags available while supplies last during no-contact pickup hours, 10 am-12 pm & 2 pm-4 pm. No registration required – but don’t forget your mask!

You can write any genre you like, but you’ll only have a few minutes to finish your story, so you’ll have to think fast! Creativity is the only thing you need to bring. That and a pencil. Virtual Paint Night (Grades 8-12)

Pam’s Picassos is dropping by for our second annual Teen Only Paint Night, this year with a Halloween theme! Not only will Pam be showing us how to create a unique work of art, but she’ll also create painting kits for us that include everything you need—including a canvas, brushes & paint! DIY Dinosaur Terrariums: A Plant (& Dinosaur) Adoption Event (Grades 5-12)

Wanted: loving homes for helpless houseplants & their dinosaur companions. Adopt a plant (& dinosaur), then meet virtually with Miss Sarah to build them a home! We’re putting together terrarium kits with everything you’ll need for this crafty program including hanging terrarium globes, a plant, dinosaurs, décor & more! Wild for Wildlife: How to Help Animals in Distress (Grades 5-12)

If you love animals or you’re considering a career in animal science, this event is for you! Learn what it takes to be an animal rehabilitator & meet both the temporary and permanent animal residents of the Connecticut Wildlife Center. Want to help?
