Events
Summer programming officially begins July 1st. We are featuring a combination of registration required and drop-in events in hope of meeting everyone’s needs. In order to stay up to date on what is being offered follow our EventBrite Page. We know that summertime is the busiest time so please only sign up for programs that you can attend. If you cannot make it for any reason just shoot us an email or call.
StoryWalk® on Main
This summer’s StoryWalk® on Main will embody all things creative! That’s right, this year’s book is wordless, so we’re putting a new spin on a beloved tradition by asking YOU to be the author while walking along Main Street and telling the story of Flotsam together! This event bridges walking, reading & storytelling & is provided with help from Branford’s local merchants & a grant provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by Connecticut State Library. Get started by reading through our 2022 storyboard map.
Creative Writing Contest
Participate in our StoryWalk®, then submit your own short stories, poems, or pieces of visual art based on your walking and reading experience! Tell us a story about the whole book, the page you liked best, or even a graphic representation of what happens next. Submit your work throughout the summer at the YS Desk or enter virtually using this form! Short stories, poetry, and visual art will all be accepted. The only rule is that each entry must be accompanied by your own original work. Prizes awarded at summer’s end.
Every featured event would not be possible without grants from the Branford Community Foundation, Institute of Museum and Library Services & the Friends of the Blackstone Memorial Library
