This summer, take sometime to enjoy the sunshine with our progressive picture book Flotsam by David Wiesner
Readers of all ages are invited to take part in our fifth annual StoryWalk® along Main Street. In collaboration with Branford’s local merchants and a grant procured by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by Connecticut State Library we have been able to display a book that truly exemplifies this year’s summer reading theme – “Oceans of Possibilities.”
We are amping things up this summer with a Creative Writing Contest where YOU tell us the story. That’s right, Flotsam by David Wiesner is a wordless book and we need you to provide the words. Plus, there will be awesome prizes awarded by age level at summer’s end so you do not want to miss this opportunity. Here is your 2022 storyboard map to get you started!
All ages are invited to participate and there are two ways to enter:
- Visit the Blackstone Library to pick up your free creative writing journals in the Youth Services Department (while supplies last!) & write the story with a pencil & paper! Poems, graphic interpretations or whatever you choose will be accepted. Bring them to the Youth Services Desk or email us youthservices@blackstonelibrary.org
- Use this fillable form while your walking and reading. Once the form is complete hit submit and you will be automatically entered into our contest.
The StoryWalk will run Friday July 1st thru Friday August 26th
Don’t forget – the library is offering a variety of interactive in-person events all summer long. Plus, they are at no cost to you thanks to our generous sponsors. Head to our calendar to learn more, sign up may be required.
