A live, in-person storytime for children ages 3-5!

Children & their caregivers are invited to sign up for an hour-long program of singing, dancing, rhyming & stories! Each week will be something new along with your old favorites.

To help keep families safe, please remember that sign up and masks will be required to attend all in-person events @ Blackstone Youth Services. If you’re not able to join us for an in-person storytime, a virtual storytime is also available at 11am. Space is limited & a waiting list will open when each event is full. Please be respectful of limited space & only sign up for events you can attend. If you are sick, please do not attend, just let Miss Carly know you’ll miss the event.

All you need is a computer, tablet, or phone & an internet connection to join the fun. Signup is required for each event. Each week will be something new along with your old favorites.

Virtual Introduction to Classical Latin (for grade 7-adult)

The study of classical Latin exercises memory, increases English vocabulary, and broadens general knowledge. Using the textbook Ecce Romani I, students will learn Latin vocabulary, English vocabulary derived from Latin root words, Latin and English grammar, and translation skills. A textbook will be provided for each student. Knowledge of Roman geography, history, daily life, and mythology will be enhanced through English or Latin readings and activities. The Latin meanings of certain common abbreviations and phrases used in English, such as e.g., A.D., et al., ad hoc, status quo, and tempus fugit, will be featured weekly.

American Sign Language for Beginners

American Sign Language for Beginners

Are you interested in learning the basics of American Sign Language? In this four session class taught by SIGNING Basics, a live sign language instructor will teach you how to sign basic phrases such as how to introduce yourself and ask for another person’s name. In addition, you will learn new vocabulary at each session to increase your signing skills.

This course is taught in 4 – 45 Minutes Virtual Zoom sessions with a live ASL Instructor, and class handouts are included. Additionally, you will have supporting videos of instructors signing the vocabulary you learn during class. A recurring Zoom link shall be sent to you on the first day of class. Please note, you are expected to attend all four sessions.

Space is limited to the first 20 registrants so be sure to secure your spot soon.
